Imphal, November 07:
Concerned over the perceived widening gap between the Meiteis and sections of the Nagas, the NSCN (Khaplang) has appealed to the Meiteis not to be carried away by "erroneous" propaganda of the NSCN(I-M) and, at the same time, urged upon the innocent Nagas, particularly among the NSCN(I-M) rank and file, not to harbour ill-feelings against the fraternal Meitei community.
The NSCN(K), in a statement said the Meiteis should not misconstrue NSCN(IM) leader Angelus Shimray's statement on "targeting NSCN(K) and Meiteis" nor to go by the acts and statements of Th Muivah and "his gang" and make any mistake against the innocent Nagas.
"It is an erroneous propaganda of Tangkhuls under the guidance of criminally self-interested persons like Th Muivah, Hangslu and Angelus Shimray", the NSCN(K) said, clarifying that this political struggle (of the Nagas) has no connection with and does not invite animosity from the Meiteis.
Describing as unrealistic the "involvement of the Tangkhuls, the so-called elder brother of Meiteis, in the Nagas' struggle for sovereignty after having been discriminated against by the Meiteis", the NSCN(K) statement said both Tangkhuls and Meiteis have determined themselves on historical affinity as brothers.
"The NSCN requests the Meiteis to have humanitarian consideration and treat the Tangkhuls not as second-class citizens but as equals to them", it added.
Warning the NSCN(I-M) cadres to immediately stop killing innocent people in Tirap and Changlang (Arunachal Pradesh), the statement said "the NSCN is assuredly confident that these terrorists will not target our Assamese brothers as well after fullest frustration".
